What Nesting Expert does not do
Every tool has edges. Ours are listed here rather than discovered after you pay, because a surprise on day two is worse than a no on day one.
It stops at the DXF
No G-code and no post-processing. Nesting Expert writes a layered DXF, which is what a cutting shop asks for. Post-processing belongs to your CAM or your machine's own software.
No common-line cutting
Nesting Expert does not do it today. On a router it is not physically possible at all: a channel as wide as the tool would eat into both parts.
No grain or rolling direction constraints
You can switch 90° rotation off for a whole job when direction matters. There is no per-part grain rule.
Bridges are not proven on a machine
Bridges are gaps left in the DXF outline. They have not been tried on a machine through a CAM, so check them in yours before you cut.
The gap must be wider than the tool, or the cutter closes it. The add-in warns you when it is not.
No remnant inventory
Offcuts are not carried from one job to the next.
No live link to the model
The nest is a result, not an associative feature. If the model changes, run it again.
It needs SOLIDWORKS
Nesting Expert is an add-in and runs inside SOLIDWORKS 2019–2026. On a machine without SOLIDWORKS it does not work. See requirements.
One seat per licence
A licence activates one machine at a time. You can release the seat and move it yourself from the Licence window, but two people cannot output at the same time on one licence.
The trial is 5 DXF/PDF outputs, not a time window.
